STATEMENT

Brie Flora’s work is inspired by her everyday experiences mixed with fantasy, folklore, and childhood memories.

Her artwork and jewelry explore connection, emotion, and natural forms through ornamentation and dreamlike imagery. Primarily creating jewelry using steel, brass, and sterling silver she combines traditional silversmithing with powder coating and hand-drawn illustrations to add texture, vivid color, and intricate details. Outside of jewelry, she creates paintings and illustrations using gauche, pen & ink, and graphite. 

Her illustrations on and off her jewelry  often feature faces, animals, and organic patterns, and act as an expressive outlet as she has been processing and balancing heavy grief and everyday life since the passing of her only sister in 2023.

Brie’s multidisciplinary approach to creating jewelry using various mediums  allows her to weave her own narrative, inviting viewers into a world shaped by memory and imagination.

BIO

Brie Flora is an artist, jeweler, and educator based in Cookeville, Tennessee. She received a dual BFA in Metalsmithing + Jewelry and Art Education from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design (2015).

Brie’s work has been featured in numerous group exhibitions, most recently in the Tennessee Craft Master’s Apprenticeship Program Exhibition at the Dogwood Gallery in the Appalachian Center for Craft (2024). She was selected as an Emerging Artist in Residence at Salem Art Works in 2018, and her creative practice has earned her several awards, including the Lillian Barfield Award from Mobilia Gallery (2014), Best New Exhibitor at Tennessee Craft (2019), and Outstanding Achievement in Jewelry from Amdur Productions (2019). In 2023–2024, she was honored as a TN Craft Master Artist through their MAAP program.

In addition to her studio practice, Brie has taught workshops both virtually and in person at various craft schools including Arrowmont and Haystack. She is also the co-owner of The Silver Fern, a gallery and storefront she opened in Cookeville, TN in July 2021.
